LAND ACTIVITIES

Skateboarding and Rollerblading:
Council Bluffs created the free downtown Broadway Skate Park for skateboarders and rollerbladers, including a snake run and 4' bowl, fun box, rail, stairs, and 1/4 pipe. There's also a free basic skateboarding facility at west-central Trolley Park.

Tennis:
Tennis courts are available for free in many Council Bluffs parks.

Baseball and Softball:
Baseball and softball fields are available in many Council Bluffs parks.

Soccer:
Soccer fields are available in several Council Bluffs parks.

Recreation Complex:
In addition to all the sports facilities in parks across the city, the Council Bluffs Recreation Complex hosts leagues as well as local, regional, state and national tournaments for youth and adult teams with 4 softball fields, 4 baseball diamonds, 2 youth/fast pitch fields, amd 8 full-size soccer fields.

Biking, Walking, and Jogging:
Council Bluffs has a nearly 30-mile continuous system of picturesque paths throughout the city specifically designated for bikers, walkers, and joggers.

Mountain Biking:
Miles of true mountain biking trails (not paved paths) wind through beautiful flat woodlands at Lake Manawa State Park in south Council Bluffs and through the forested, challenging bluffs at the Lewis & Clark Monument & Scenic Overlook in north Council Bluffs (the last climb of the bluffs trail to the end is a 200-yard gut buster known as Mount Never-rest!)

Horseshoes:
Several Council Bluffs parks have horseshoe pits.

Martial Arts:
Training in martial arts such as NinBuKai and Taekwondo is available in Council Bluffs.

Bowling:
Council Bluffs has bowling alleys with plenty of lanes.

Racquetball:
Racquetball courts are available to the public in the Lied Multipurpose Center at the Iowa School for the Deaf in southeast Council Bluffs.

Basketball:
Basketball courts are available in several Council Bluffs parks as well as the Council Bluffs YMCA.

Ice Skating:
Ice skating (weather permitting) is available at Lake Manawa State Park in south Council Bluffs as well as Big Lake Park in north Council Bluffs.

Paintball:
Council Bluffs has indoor and outdoor paintball fields for year-round play.

Dance:
Dance instruction including tap, jazz, ballet, hip hop, modern, country western, and ball room is available in Council Bluffs.

Frisbee Golf:
A large frisbee golf course occupies the gentle hills of east Council Bluffs.

Go-Karting:
Council Bluffs has Iowa and Nebraska's fastest indoor facility for go-karting.

Golfing:
Council Bluffs has a municipal championship 18-hole course and a municipal 9-hole par 3 course. Other Council Bluffs golf courses are Fox Run Golf Club and Bent Tree Golf Club.

Horseback Riding:
Council Bluffs has equestrian trails. Some residents keep horses. You can also rent horses to go riding.

Hiking:
Hiking trails are available in Council Bluffs including those in the forested bluffs at the Lewis & Clark Monument in north Council Bluffs, in the forested bluffs at Fairmont Park in central Council Bluffs, and the forested trails at Lake Manawa State Park in south Council Bluffs.

Gardening:
Council Bluffs enjoys a temperate multi-seasonal climate ideal for casual and diehard gardeners. The River City Farmers Market provides a place to sell and buy fresh produce.

ATV and Off-Road Motorcycling:
River Valley Park in Council Bluffs provides a dedicated place for All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) and off-road motorcycles.

Classic Cars:
Council Bluffs enjoys an abundance of residents who love classic cars - Model T Ford to '57 Chevy to timeless roadster and more - which you'll routinely spot in pristine condition driving around the city or gathered at car rallies.

RV'ing and Camping:
RV hook-ups and campsites are available at the campground at Lake Manawa State Park in south Council Bluffs.

WATER ACTIVITIES

Water Parks:
Council Bluffs has two beautiful municipal outdoor aquatic centers. Katelman Water Park and Pirate Cove Water Park are open seasonally to the public.

Indoor Pools:
Council Bluffs indoor pools with hours open to the public include Kirn pool and the Lied Multipurpose Center pool at the Iowa School for the Deaf. The YMCA and the municipal senior Center, both in downtown Council Bluffs, have indoor pools.

Beaches:
Swimmers and sunbathers can enjoy the public beaches at Lake Manawa State Park in south Council Bluffs.

Boating:
Speedboats can be launched into the large Missouri River at either the Narrows River Park in north Council Bluffs or the southern edge of Lake Manawa State Park in south Council Bluffs. Also, jetskis, canoes, kayaks, sailboats, pontoon boats, and speedboats are commonly used on Lake Manawa and are launched at multiple locations around the large lake.

Fishing:
Fishing is available at Big Lake Park in north Council Bluffs, Lake Manawa State Park in south Council Bluffs, and the Missouri River in west Council Bluffs.

AIR ACTIVITIES

Remote Control Aircraft:
Enthusiasts have a park designated for remote control aircraft, like planes and helicopters, in west Council Bluffs.

Flying:
Rent aircraft by the hour or take flying lessons at the CB Airport in east Council Bluffs.

ANNUAL EVENT

Council Bluffs Black Squirrel Triathlon:
The annual, late summer Black Squirrel Triathlon includes a 1000-yard open swim, 21-mile bike ride, and 6.1-mile run.
